Earners of this badge have successfully completed Jisc’s “Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy for teaching and learning – module one: Understanding AI” online course. This introductory course develops foundational AI literacy for staff and students by exploring core AI concepts, key terminology, a brief history of AI, and the development of generative AI. Earners have examined how AI is being used in teaching and learning, including opportunities, challenges, and examples of student and educator use. They have also practised the fundamentals of effective prompting and considered how to evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Evidence of learning/achievement required:

Learners who have successfully completed Jisc’s “Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy for teaching and learning – module one: Understanding AI” online course have demonstrated that they are able to: - Develop a clear understanding of AI’s key principles, terminology, and relevance in education - Make informed decisions about AI adoption by recognising its opportunities and challenges - Apply foundational prompting techniques to generate useful AI outputs for educational tasks The course takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes to complete and requires a minimum pass of 75% in the final assessment to successfully complete the course.
